Shower toilets have gone from a curiosity to something we get asked about every week. The questions are almost always the same three: what do they actually do, what do I need in the wall, and why does the price range go from five hundred euro to nearly ten thousand?
This guide answers all three, and then puts every model we stock side by side. Prices include VAT and are correct as of September 2026.
What a shower toilet actually is
A shower toilet — also sold as a smart toilet or a washlet — is a WC with a retractable spray arm built into the pan. Press a button and warm water washes you; on most models a warm air dryer finishes the job. That is the whole idea. Heated seats, night lights, app control and automatic lids are comfort layered on top of it.
Two things are worth knowing before you go any further: not everything sold as a “toilet with bidet function” is electric, and every electric one needs power and a concealed cistern in the wall.
Before you buy: the three things that decide whether you can fit one
- A 230 V supply at the WC. Every electric shower toilet needs a fused spur or socket behind the pan. On a new build or a full renovation this is trivial — your electrician runs it before the wall is closed. In a finished bathroom it usually means chasing a wall. This is the single most common reason a shower toilet project stalls, and it is far cheaper to plan than to retrofit.
- A concealed cistern and frame. Every wall-hung model here runs from a concealed cistern. If you already have a wall-hung WC, you are halfway there — but check the frame has room for the water and power connections. Starting from scratch, budget for the frame and flush plate too: see our installation frames and concealed cisterns.
- Water pressure. Most units want at least 0.5 bar flow pressure. On a gravity-fed system with a low tank you may need a pump. Worth checking before you order rather than after.
None of this is difficult. It just has to be decided before the tiler starts.
Electric or non-electric — know what you are buying
“Toilet with bidet function” covers two very different products.
- Non-electric — a spray nozzle built into the pan, fed from a small mixer valve on the wall. No power, no heated seat, no dryer, no remote. The water is whatever temperature your mixer delivers. From €510.
- Electric (a true shower toilet) — heated water on demand, adjustable spray position and pressure, usually a dryer and a heated seat, remote or app control. From €1,275.
If someone tells you they picked up a shower toilet for five hundred euro, this is the difference.
The line-up, by price
Non-electric bidet toilets — €510 to €799
Rimless wall-hung pans with an integrated spray, no electrics involved. The right choice if you want the hygiene benefit without rewiring, or if power at the WC genuinely isn't possible.
- Cipher Slimline — €510
- Niagara Matt Black — €799
Entry-level electric — €1,275 to €1,665
Murya SMART — €1,275
Heated seat, warm air dryer, adjustable water temperature, separate wash modes, LED night light, rimless ceramic, 15-year ceramic warranty. We have a working display model in the Dundalk showroom, so this is the one you can actually try before you buy.
Deante Silia Basic — €1,385
Touchless: a sensor and foot-swipe recognition lift the seat as you approach. Heated seat with four levels, integrated wash, rimless bowl, and two interchangeable side panels (white and graphite) so it blends into the room.
Deante Silia Pro — €1,665
Everything the Basic does, plus a warm air dryer with adjustable temperature, UV nozzle sterilisation, a remote that remembers settings for two users, a night light and an eco mode that drops the seat temperature after 30 minutes.
Geberit AquaClean Alba — €1,600
Alba is the way into the Geberit range. It uses the same WhirlSpray washing and the same rimless TurboFlush ceramic as models costing five times more — what's missing is the comfort kit: no dryer, no odour extraction, no heated seat. If you care more about the toilet than the gadgets, this is the value pick in the whole guide.
Mid-range — €3,215 to €4,174
GROHE Sensia Pro — from €3,215
Two separately adjustable spray arms with a dedicated waterway for the front spray, an instant heater for unlimited warm water, warm air dryer, automatic opening and closing lid, user detection, a night light inside the bowl and a remote control. Rimless Triple Vortex flush with antibacterial glaze. Sold in four packages, so the Rapid SLX frame and auto-flush kit can arrive in the same order. GROHE does not list seat heating or odour extraction for it.
Geberit AquaClean Tuma Comfort — €4,174
The most features per euro in the Geberit range: heated seat, warm air dryer and odour extraction all included, and at 36 cm wide it is the narrowest unit in this guide — which makes it the one to look at for a small en-suite. The trade-off is that it's the only Geberit model without TurboFlush.
Geberit AquaClean Sela — €5,013 white / €5,101 chrome
Sela is bought for how it looks. At 33 cm deep it is the shallowest here, it holds iF and Red Dot design awards, and it has an orientation light. It has no dryer and no odour extraction, so it costs more than the Tuma and does less. That is a design decision, and plenty of people make it happily.
Premium — €6,742 to €9,384
Geberit AquaClean Mera Classic — €6,742
Dryer, odour extraction, rimless TurboFlush ceramic and three user profiles. No heated seat, no orientation light, no automatic lid.
Geberit AquaClean Mera Comfort — €9,384
The only model in this guide with a heated seat and a touchless automatic lid and an orientation light in seven colours, on top of the dryer and odour extraction. This is the flagship, and it is priced like one.

If you want the full specification straight from the source, the manufacturers publish it too: Alba, Tuma Comfort, Sela, Mera Classic and Mera Comfort in the Geberit catalogue, and Sensia Pro on GROHE's own site.
Deante and Lavita don't publish videos of the Silia or the Murya, so there is nothing official to point you at — which is exactly why we keep a working Murya plumbed in at the showroom.
So which one should you buy?
- Power at the WC isn't possible — go non-electric. Cipher at €510 does the basic job properly.
- A guest WC, or you want to try the idea — Murya SMART or Silia Basic. Under €1,400 with a heated seat.
- Best ceramic for the money — Geberit Alba. Flagship pan, entry-level price.
- Most comfort features per euro — Tuma Comfort. Heated seat, dryer and odour extraction for €4,174.
- A tight en-suite — Sela at 33 cm deep, or Tuma at 36 cm wide.
- You want the frame handled in one order — GROHE Sensia Pro complete system.
- No compromises — Mera Comfort.
Come and try one
A shower toilet is a hard thing to buy from a photograph. We keep a working display model in the showroom, so you can see what the spray and the dryer actually feel like to operate before you spend the money.
