A shower toilet washes with water instead of paper. Some models are fully electric — heated seat, warm-water wash, dryer, remote — while others simply have an integrated wash spout and need no power at all. Both are here, split so you can tell them apart before you order.
These need a fused electrical connection near the toilet. In return you get warm-water washing with adjustable pressure and temperature, a heated seat, a warm air dryer, and a remote control. Plan the socket before you build the wall — retrofitting power behind a finished stud partition is the one part of this job that is genuinely awkward.
A ceramic pan with a built-in wash spout fed from the cold or mixed water supply, operated by a small mixer tap on the wall. No power, no electronics, nothing to break. You lose the heated seat and the dryer, but the installation is no harder than a standard wall hung toilet and the price is a fraction of a full smart unit.
